Seniors Vow They’re Not Backing Down

Opposition to the new provincial policy on what seniors will pay for their nursing home care is not dying down, according to the Coalition for Seniors and Nursing Home Residents Rights, despite what Social Development Minister Cathy Rogers may think..

Cecile Cassista of the Seniors Coalition says there are lots of questions which are going unanswered such as whether money in a tax free savings account will be part of the financial calculations as well as other investments.

Cassista points out the provincial Ombudsman back in 2003-2004, Bernard Richard recommended the calculation for how much you pay for nursing home care be based on income only.
