Senior Petroleum Analyst Says Gas Prices Will Rise Dramatically in 2019

2019 is expected to usher in higher prices at the pumps in New Brunswick.

That warning from petroleum analyst Dan McTeague with Gasbuddy.com.

McTeague says there are a couple of reasons prices will rise in April, “The new tax, which will go into effect in April comes at a time, when prices traditionally rise rather dramatically because we are shifting from cheaper to make winter gasoline to summer spec gasoline, so that’s around five cents a litre.”

He says there’s also higher consumer demand at that time of year.

“We could be seeing price increases in the order of conservatively ten cents a litre, but more than likely fifteen cents or even eighteen cents a litre in the month of April alone,” McTeague says.
