Why are we limiting tacos to Tuesdays? Who made that rule? Because after eating at La Chiquita Taco y Mas, I’m officially proposing Taco Monday, Taco Wednesday… you get the idea.
I first discovered La Chiquita at the Dieppe Market last summer. I’d heard the rumours: “You need to try these tacos. They’re the real deal.”
Okay, calm down. They’re tacos.
Then I tried them.
I would like to formally apologize.

The flavours, the spices, the authenticity—Moncton really hadn’t seen anything quite like this. Owners Iliana and Brett have created something special, and while you can still find them at the market, as of August 12 they officially have a brick-and-mortar location at 419 Mountain Road!
Naturally, I went with Taco Mix #5, because asking me to choose one meat is unreasonable. You get a mix of beef, chicken and pork, giving you the chance to try a little bit of everything.
Then there’s the salsa.

It ranges from “Oh, that’s nice” to “I can hear colours.”
Brett makes his own hot sauces and proudly claims he has some of the hottest sauces in Moncton. Thankfully, you can sample them first, which is helpful if you’d like to keep the ability to taste food for the remainder of the week.
The tacos themselves are packed with flavour. Fresh, messy in the best possible way, and the kind of food that makes you forget you’re sitting on Mountain Road and not wandering down a street somewhere in Mexico.
And DO NOT sleep on the homemade empanadas. Crispy and golden on the outside, soft inside, with perfectly seasoned meat. I absolutely did not need one after all those tacos.

I ate it anyway.
For now, their delivery options are still running through the market location, with plans to expand delivery through the new Mountain Road spot soon.
So I’m putting this question out there…
Are these the best tacos in Greater Moncton?
Go try them, support local, and report back.
