Saint John Plant Supplies Essential Medical Linens

Saint John Laundry in Lorneville, formerly known as Fundy Linen is supplying materials essential to delivering healthcare.

James Belliveau is the executive director of Laundry and Linen Services at Service New Brunswick.

He said the service area includes hospitals, clinics and some nursing homes in Fredericton, Saint John, Moncton and St. Stephen.

“We provide a wide range of products. It could be either bedding linen, surgical linens, patient protective linens such as isolation gowns, uniforms,” Belliveau said.

The Saint John plant which recently underwent a refurbishment processes approximately 16 million pounds of laundry a year.

The facility has 173 staff at the Lorneville facility.

Belliveau believes these workers should be singled out as essential workers.

“I am very proud of everyone at SNB in particular that are involved directly or indirectly with making sure the hospital, clinics and nursing homes continue to receive their linen needs throughout the crisis and every day.” Belliveau said.

Belliveau said they have been working closely with the Regional health authorities to adapt their services to meet their requirements throughout this crisis which means offering additional isolation gowns and uniforms for frontline healthcare workers.
