A Mixed Martial Artist Ryan Jimmo, who grew up in Saint John, has been killed by a hit and run driver in Edmonton. According to Edmonton Police, there was a brief verbal altercation between two drivers. Jimmo reportedly approached the occupants of the second vehicle and as he was walking back to his vehicle, it’s alleged the suspect vehicle accelerated, ran him down and then took off.
Jimmo had most recently competed in the Light Heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Jimmo was captain of the football team at St. Malachy’s and president of the chess club.
He began amateur bodybuilding after breaking his leg from karate in 2004. Jimmo was taught by his father, a 5th degree black belt who competed in Japan twice and was ranked 5th in the world in his style.
