Saint John man charged in Dieppe homicide

A first-degree murder charge has been laid in the death of a Dieppe man earlier this week.

Police responded to a reported shooting at a Louis Street residence at around 10 p.m. Sunday.

Officers located a man who they say was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim, identified as 26-year-old Jacob Wright, later died from his injuries in the hospital.

On Monday afternoon, officers arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with the investigation.

Brandon Patrick LeBlanc, who police said was also wanted for being unlawfully at large, has since been charged with first-degree murder.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to return to court on July 11.

RCMP Cpl. Stephane Esculier has said they believe this was an isolated and targeted incident.
