Recounts resulting from the provincial election begin Thursday morning.
The tightest race was in Saint John East where Liberal Gary Keating beat Conservative Glen Savoie by 8 votes.
Savoie tells us where the vote was so close a recount is necessary.
He says this process should help restore voter confidence in the system after all the confusion during the election itself.
Savoie says his supporters are surprised by the result but he says when you have such a low voter turnout anything is possible.
The Saint John East recount is set to begin at 9am tomorrow morning at the Saint John Law Courts building at Peel Plaza.
Theere will also be a recount in Saint John Harbour which was won by Liberal Dr. Ed Doherty by 71 votes over Conservative Carl Killen.
Recounts also taking place in Charlotte-Campobello, won by Liberal John Ames by 192 votes over Conservative Curtis Malloch and in Fredericton-Grand Lake where the leader of the People’s Alliance Kris Austin lost by 26 votes.
