Rogersville Area Voters Say No In Plebiscite

Voters in the Rogersville area have said no to forming a rural community.

Elections NB says almost three-quarters of the 1530 eligible voters cast ballots in Monday’s plebiscite.

In the unofficial results, 844 voters said NO while 286 voters said YES.

The proposal would have combined the Village of Rogersville, the local service districts of Collette, the parish of Acadieville, the parish of Rogersville, and parts of the local service districts of the parish of Harcourt, the parish of Saint-Louis, and the parish of Weldford into one large rural community.

Local Government Minister Jeff Carr says community restructuring is voluntary and he respects the results of this democratic process.
