Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians are now using the newest roundabout in Riverview at Pine Glen and Pinewood Roads.
Mayor Andrew LeBlanc says roundabouts are designed to improve safety and the feedback has been positive so far.
“We know that particular intersection was a challenging one from a safety perspective. So we were pleased to be able to implement something that’s going to keep our residents safe, keep motorists safe and also protect pedestrians in that area as well.”
LeBlanc adds town staff are always looking for ways to improve safety at intersections.
“I know our staff do a great job of continuing to monitor specific areas in town where traffic calming or traffic improvement measures could be taken. We have a traffic committee that reviews those things all the time.”
With several already in place, LeBlanc says it’s possible more roundabouts will be in Riverview’s future.
As a reminder, the town recently sent out tips on how to safely navigate roundabouts.
