The Mayor of Riverview says there was lots of growth in the Town for 2019.
Building permits were at one of their highest years ever, “Our residential housing, mainly apartments, we saw a big increase this year in Riverview with apartment buildings being built. Real estate is good, and the market is good and we can see that in our town as well as the Tri-communities.”
Ann Seamans says they’ll see even more growth in 2020 with an area that will connect Gunningsville Boulevard to Hillsborough Road.
“This year we approved the budget for Bridgedale Boulevard that will be built in 2020. It opens up land and gives all kinds of opportunities, “Seamans says.
These opportunities include the construction of a future Wellness Centre, that will include a new indoor pool facility, a fieldhouse/gym, and the potential for an additional ice rink for Riverview. It is not expected to be constructed until 2023.
One of the more controversial issues, was a development in the area of the Chocolate River station. Seamans says, “With this development, that is still ongoing It is not firmed up yet. We do have an offer on the building, but that has not been finalized. We are working towards removing the conditions attached to that. We should know by 2020 if that is going to be a go.”
The Light Up Riverview attraction expanded in 2019, which made the holiday even brighter for the town.
“It has certainly be positive for Riverview, bringing people in for shopping and supporting the businesses. Fifty businesses came on board this year for the addition of Business Brilliance. This all adds to the area, and attracting people to our town.
Light Up Riverview was first launched in 2016 with thousands of lights decorating the pines along the Petitcodiac River.
