Riverview Man Sentenced In Child Porn Case

A 48-year-old man has been sentenced after an investigation into images of child sexual abuse.

New Brunswick RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit began investigating in November 2016 after information came from the national crime centre.

In November 2017, Mounties carried out a search warrant at a home in Riverview where several electronic devices were seized and a man was arrested.

Troy Darcy Savary has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the investigation.

On March 18, Savary was sentenced to 15 months in jail followed by two years probation.

His name has been added to the National Sex Offender Registry for life and he will be required to submit a DNA sample.

After his release, he will have to abide by court conditions including not being around children.

The New Brunswick RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit includes members from the Saint John Police Force and the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force.

The RCMP’s Digital Forensic Services Unit, the Codiac Regional RCMP and the RCMP National Child Exploitation Crime Centre were also involved in this investigation.
