For the third year in a row, the tax rate in the Town of Riverview will hold steady in 2015.
Town council has adopted a $27 million operating budget for next year.
Mayor Ann Seamans says council is pleased to hold the line on taxes while still going ahead with various capital projects including a new public works building off Gunningsville Boulevard.
“We’re in definite need of replacing that building and that is one of the big projects. We have road maintenace and upgrades that we’ll be doing including Trites Road, Cherry Court, Suffolk Street, Pinewood Road, Rivercrest, McDowell and Canterbury.”
Residents of Riverview will see a $2 per month increase on their water bills which will go towards water and sewer upgrades.
Seamans adds one of the biggest challenges the town faced this year was a 10.4 percent cut in provincial equalization funding which resulted in a loss of almost $200,000.
