Room In Riverview Home Extensively Damaged By Fire

Residents in a Riverview home managed to get out safely early this morning after their smoke detector went off .

Riverview Fire Captain Glen Miller says the residents called 911 at around 1:30am.

When firefighters arrived at the Havelock Road home, they found flames in the basement.

They managed to extinguish the fire in the laundry room within 10 minutes.

Miller says there is extensive fire damage to the one room, and smoke damage to the rest of the house.

Firefighters were on scene until around 3am this morning.

No one was hurt in the fire.

There’s no word on a cause yet.
