After more than two months of frantic planning, organizing, and presenting, the relief in the room was palpable as the Anglophone East District Education Council unanimously voted to keep Riverside Consolidated School open for another year.
Parent School Support Committee Spokesperson Dan Sinclair said while the process was difficult, it gave them an opportunity to review their assets and the strengths of their community.
There was a standing ovation when the results of the vote were read.
Sinclair says there has been a lot of weight on the shoulders of our children, and they are thrilled that they are going to have a school to go to in the fall.
He says they have plans in the works to convert part of the basement into an extra childcare space, and are even considering a life long learning centre.
