If your child is struggling in public school due to learning disabilities, there is another option in Moncton.
Riverbend community school has been in operation for three years now. It opened as a result of demand from parents who have watched their children struggle with learning.
They offer full and part time studies, and often see children with challenges includes dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia and ADHD.
They operate from grades 3 to 8, but they divide into separate classes by skills, not age.
Director Rebecca Halliday says given the right setting, they see these kids come to life in ways that their parents have never seen before, “Half of our success comes from the fact that we are just a very small setting so that kids can stop and focus on what they’re doing. We do a lot of mindfulness training, so kids can just breathe and relax and start to engage in learning in a whole new way.”
