Risk Of Mould Growing In Children’s “Sippy Cups” Prompts Massive Recall

Hundreds of thousands of children’s spill proof cups are being recalled due to a risk of mould.

Health Canada issued the recall after 484 complaints in Canada and 3,066 in the United States.

Distributor Mayborn USA says five models of the Tommee Tippee Sippee Cups are affected.

Mould can grow on the white one piece removable valve if it remains wet and isn’t cleaned frequently enough.

Health Canada says ingesting mould can cause gastrointestinal symptoms and infections.

Only one report of illness in Canada has been registered with the public health agency.

Approximately 227,000 units were sold across Canada between December 2014 and May 2016.

You should immediately stop using the cups, and contact Mayborn USA for a free replacement.
