Restaurant Damaged After Fiona Batters Wharf

The cleanup is underway at Pointe-du-Chêne Wharf which took a beating from Hurricane Fiona.

Photos and videos on social media show how the powerful storm surge dislodged two large fuel tanks, scattered debris and vegetation and ripped up sections of pavement.

The Sandbar Restaurant was badly damaged after it was pushed off its blocks and its big yellow chair was hurled across the wharf.

Owner Rob Taylor Jr. said he met with an insurance appraiser and will be making necessary adjustments to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

He vows a new building will be a fresh start and plans to reopen next May for the long weekend.
