A report into the deaths of North Atlantic right whales in the Gulf of St. Lawrence will be released today.
Necropsies were conducted on six whales this summer..
Pierre Daoust who is a Pathologist and Veterinarian at the Atlantic Vet College at UPEI, and Emillie L Couture who is also a Veterinarian at the Zoo de Granby and Universite de Montreal, helped to put the report together…
It’s hoped the report will help to offer recommendations on what can be done to protect them in the future.
11 right whale carcasses were found in the Gulf this summer, and there were three more that died off New England.
This type of whale is considered an endangered species with only around 500 left.
