Report: 5 members of 2018 WJC team told to report to police

A number of players from Canada’s 2018 World Junior team have been told to surrender to police.

A Globe and Mail report says five players must report to officers in London, Ontario.

It’s in relation to the sexual assault of a woman in June, 2018 in a hotel room after a fundraising gala.

Hockey Canada settled the case, but the investigation was re-opened in 2022 after a report from TSN.

While names have not been released, five players from that team have been granted an indefinite leave of absence from their clubs.

Philadelphia Flyers goalie Carter Hart, New Jersey Devils players Cal Foote and Michael McLeod, Calgary’s Dillon Dube and former Ottawa Senator Alex Formenton.

We’ve reached out to Hockey Canada for comment.
