Liberal Dr. Ed Doherty has been confirmed as the winner of the provincial election in Saint John Harbour by the same 71 vote margin as he had on election night. This follows a judicial recount by hand.
The riding’s returning officer John Campbell tells CHSJ News the voting tabulation machines should be used again.
The President of the Provincial Conservative Party Jason Stephen remains unconvinced and adds there were other problems Elections NB will have to be looked at and any election is more than just getting the results out quickly.
Campbell believes the criticism has been overblown and speculates there might have been a problem with so many results being uploaded at the same time in order to get the results out as quickly as possible.
