Moncton’s Re-Centre program is expanding to accept different types of waste.
For the past year and and a half, they have been accepting bottles, cans and other liquid containers at their depots.
Project Coordinator Tim Pidgeon says they plan to expand in the next month or so.
He says, “We’ll be accepting cardboard and e-waste. That will be open to our Re-Centre members.”
Pidgeon says they are finalizing the types of e-waste they’ll be accepting, but the list will include TV’s and computers, “We’re working with the electronic waste industry to hammer out exactly what will be accepted, but that will be announced when we do the opening of the new depots.”
He notes, once the depots are changed, “You’ll have a door similar to the one at the Re-Centre now where you will scan your card to unlock the door to drop in your e-waste. The other will basically be a chute to drop in your cardboard.”
About 2500 members have registered for the three year Re-Centre program…
