RCMP vehicles get major redesign

The RCMP are rolling out a new look this year.

For the first time in more than 30 years, the Mounties frontline police vehicles are being redesigned.

The new look will feature a more classic two-tone look, white doors on a black base, and new high-visibility, reflective graphics.

The black-and-white colour scheme draws inspiration from earlier designs.

According to the RCMP media release, the new colour scheme is meant to connect the modern fleet to the organization’s long history of serving Canadians as the national police force.

Provinces, territories and municipalities will have the option to include local identifiers based on regional needs.

The new design has also been developed with distinctive markings to help them stand out from non-police vehicles.

The transition will begin later this summer and will take place gradually.

Older vehicles will be phased out as they reach the criteria for replacement.
