The RCMP is offering a few simple tips about keeping campers and cottages safe.
You’re encouraged not to leave any valuables, ranging from fishing equipment to firearms in your camp or cottage when you’re not there.
Because many crimes are opportunistic, you’re recommended to keep all vehicles, outbuildings and residences locked.
The RCMP also advises recording the serial numbers on vehicles and equipment, as well as taking photos of valuable items.
In the event of a theft, that might make recovery easier.
