The New Brunswick RCMP Major Crime Unit is investigating the sudden death of a 37-year-old inmate at the Southeast Regional Correctional Centre in Shediac
Police say Derek James Whalen of Moncton was found unresponsive in his cell on May 3. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The cause of death is still under investigation.
