RCMP Ask For Public Vigilance To Help Prevent Smuggling

Crimestoppers and the RCMP are asking New Brunswickers to keep an eye out for suspicious behaviour along the coasts and around remote airfields.

With over a thousand kilometres of coastline and several airfields, criminal activity can take place with little or no public attention.

RCMP want people to be on the lookout for boats operating at odd hours in secluded areas as well as small boats near larger vessels.

The authorities are looking to crack down on smuggling of drugs, contraband tobacco and human trafficking in the province.

If you have any information on this illegal activity and wish to remain anonymous, please contact Crime Stoppers toll free at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), texting TIP212 + your message to ‘CRIMES’ (274637), or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest.
