An early morning fire that destroyed a house in a Moncton suburb is considered suspicious.
Moncton Fire Department Division Chief Charles LeBlanc says they began a preliminary investigation at 88 Erinvale road yesterday.
“There were some indicators this could possibly be an incendiary fire, basically at that point we stopped our investigation, notified the RCMP, and basically we’re just waiting to continue our investigation,” says LeBlanc. “Hopefully at some point today or tomorrow we should be able to come up with an origin and cause.”
LeBlanc says an investigation in a standard size home could take anywhere from one to two days before they get results.
The homeowners were not present at the time of the fire, neighbours said they were on vacation.
The initial story of yesterday’s fire is available below.
