Rare Triad Of Celestial Events On March 20th

It’s a triad of celestial events in the sky today, and for the most part, Atlantic Canada is out of luck for viewing purposes.

Unless you were in Greenland, Iceland, Northern Europe, or the Arctic, you probably didn’t see the solar eclipse this morning.

According to earthsky.org, March 20th, 2015, is a special day, with a new supermoon total solar eclipse falling on the Spring Equinox, as the moon gets to it’s closet point to the earth in orbit.

Even though we missed the amazing sight in Eastern Canada, Maritimers can still officially celebrate Spring at 7:45pm Atlantic.

You can also mark the next solar eclipse on the March equinox on your calendar, in the years 2034, 2053, or 2072.
