New Brunswickers are being asked to help shape the next provincial budget as the government begins planning for 2026–27.
Finance and Treasury Board Minister René Legacy said the consultation process is meant to keep the province on a sustainable financial path while responding to the needs residents continue to raise.
“New Brunswickers have told us very clearly what matters to them: accessible health care, making life more affordable, and a strong education system,” Legacy said in a government release.
“Building a budget that reflects the priorities of New Brunswickers requires thoughtful planning and collective input. We know there are difficult decisions ahead, but by working together, we can identify responsible approaches to secure our province’s future.”
A government report has been released to guide the consultation process.
The report outlines several options for saving money or generating new revenue.
Those options include reviewing programs to find efficiencies, restructuring service delivery to reduce costs and introducing cost‑recovery measures for certain services.
Revenue ideas include tolls on out‑of‑province vehicles and adjusted fees for government services.
Residents can submit feedback until Feb. 20.
Submissions can be sent by email, by mail to the Finance and Treasury Board minister, or through an online form.
The provincial government said organizations are also invited to submit ideas that could improve results or change how services are delivered.
