Public Ideas Gathered For Solution To Parking At Downtown Events Centre

A city organized information session last night asked for public input on how to incorporate the new downtown centre into the fabric of the Greater Moncton area.

One of the most controversial issues since the centre was confirmed this year has been parking.

City Transportation Coordinator Stephane Thibodeau was facilitating the parking discussion at last night’s meeting.

“It’s all about mobility, and it’s all about providing choices of mobility that are actually equal, secure and safe for all the modes,” says Thibodeau.

The City says there are 2,400 parking spaces within a 5 minute walk of Highfield Square, but they are also encouraging innovative use of biking and walking paths, as well as mass transit in their parking solution.
