New Brunswickers can simply no longer trust Brian Gallant according to provincial NDP Leader Dominic Cardy.
He has harsh words for the Liberal Government, accusing them of breaking promises and attacking hard working families.
Cardy says the Liberals have cancelled the tuition rebate program, and hit daycares hard by removing subsidies and badly needed daycare spaces.
“Affordable high quality childcare is one of the best ways to life people out of poverty and make sure our kids get the headstart that they need, and then we have the attack on seniors assets,” says Cardy. “None of these things were in their platform.”
Cardy adds neither the Liberals or Tories are interested in making the fundamental reforms that New Brunswick really needs.
He says the behaviour of the Liberals since the election is actively contributing to voter cynicism.
“It just undermines faith in democracy and makes people feel even more disconnected from the system, just at the point when we need people with creativity and ideas to try and make the province successful again,” says Cardy. “So you’re driving people out of politics and making people more cynical about public life.”
Cardy says the Liberal behaviour since the election is unfortunate because they knew these hard changes were needed and lack the political will to make it happen.
