Provincial Government Invests Extra $1.7 Million In Emergency Management Preparedness

The provincial government is spending an additional $1.7 million to improve local emergency preparedness.

In the next few weeks, the government plans to begin hiring regional emergency management coordinators in all 12 Regional Service Commission Areas.

That role is designed to coordinate local and provincial emergency planning and response.

The extra funds will also be spent on increasing the number of emergency management training sessions in both French and English throughout New Brunswick.

Justice and Public Safety Minister Denis Landry says this announcement is a response to a review of January 2017’s devastating ice storm, which resulted in 51 recommendations.
