The provincial government’s desire to slash costs will disproportinately affect women.
That charge being levelled by Provincial Green Party leader David Coon. He points to daycare cuts as an example with 97 per cent of the jobs held by women.
Coon adds 65 per cent of jobs in education are held by women and more than 300 jobs are being cut there.
He also claims the privatisation of non-medical services in hospitals will also adversely affect women who work as cleaners and in food service.
