The provincial budget has passed by 3 votes with Premier Brian Gallant saying the status quo has to change because the status quo is what got New Brunswick into the financial fix it finds itself in.
The Premier charges there has been a lot of misrepresentation about seniors and how they will be affected by the budget.
Gallant says he knows first hand how tough it can be for seniors having lived with his grandparents who went through tough times and had to watch every penny they spent.
Gallant says only those seniors who are well off will have to pay more so assistance is there for the less well off seniors with programmes like home care which he calls the best of its kind in the country.
