Province Will Consider Stronger Protection For Animals

Don’t be surprised to see legislative changes aimed at strengthening animal protection in the province.

One area being talked about is a standard of care for dogs.

The Department of Environment and Local Government will be talking to animal welfare advocates this spring to determine where improvements have to be made followed by a new strategy.

The province has been watching what other provinces do in terms of animal protection. Quebec recently passed new animal welfare legislation, some of which could be adopted in New Brunswick.
