Province Looking For Ideas To Improve Literacy

Low literacy rates have been identified as a major stumbling block to developing a skilled workforce in New Brunswick. The provincial government is now on the lookout for ideas online to improve literacy.

In 2013, an assessment of adult literacy discovered almost one in five adults in the province have reading and writing skills that fall below the national average.

Among this group, 25 per cent are out of work and almost half don’t have a high school diploma or a similar certification.

Organizations and individuals have until August 7th to make submissions to the Department of Post Secondary Education, Training and Labour.
