There will be some relief today from parents concerned about overcrowding issues at Norththrup Frye and Evergreen Schools.
North-end Moncton is getting a new middle school.
The provincial government announced today 1.3 million dollars will be used to purchase a piece of land and complete preliminary planning that needs to be done for the new school.
Superintendant for the Anglophone East District Gregg Ingersoll says all they know at this pount is that is will be located in the north end.
He says, “Where the middle school will be located exactly will be determined by where they can find the land, but since it is a middle school, and all of the students from the north end will be going to that school, it gives them a little more flexibility as to where that school can be located.”
The new school will be built for grades 6 to 8, and will hold up to 670 students.
This is just one of eight projects announced by the provincial govenrment for 2016 and 2017.
