The last thing anyone wants on a freezing cold day is car trouble, so here are a few recommendations for keeping you and your vehicle running smoothly throughout the cold Canadian winter.
Gary Howard from CAA says if you haven’t done so already, you should get your vehicle inspected from top to bottom by a qualified technician.
“They will check for a number of things, including the most important thing on a cold day – which is your battery,” says Howard. “That’s where we have most of our calls for assistance, is batteries just not working so that’s really critical. But every component in your vehicle is important to check and make sure it’s winter ready.”
Howard adds if you don’t have snow tires yet, you should get them installed immediately as they are the best way to help you in messy conditions.
He also has another more unusual piece of advice to keep always keep your gas tank more than half full to prevent condensation from building up inside the tank.
