Promoter Of Rockfest Hopes To Bring Another Concert To Same Site Next Year

No firm numbers yet on how many people attended this weekend’s Rockfest concert in Moncton, but Promoter Emery Bourque says it went off without a hitch, “No hiccups, and I have to say the reason why is because of the good cooperation we had with the City of Moncton, making sure that everything was in place. People were happy.”

The concert held on Saturday night, featured several acts including Burton Cummings, Gowan and Sass Jordan, but Bourque says he doesn’t have that final count on ticket sales yet, “I don’t have a final count, but overall when I am looking at the whole picture, whether we had ten people or six thousand people, everything that had to be done, was done.”

Safety on Salisbury Road was a major concern prior to the show, but Bourque says that was handled very well, “At the end of the show, it took maybe fifteen to twenty minutes max and everyone was on their way home. Parking lot attendants and traffic controllers were great. It was not an issue at all.”

Bourque added, “Security also did an amazing job. They were managing the site properly. We did have a couple of fans that drank too much, but they addressed them right away and talked to them and cut them off if need be. It was a well managed site security wise.”

Bourque says there isn’t much he would change, because he feels everything went as well as it possibly could. His plan is to sit down over the winter to plan another show for next year, “During the winter months, we’ll have to have a roundtable with the people, to see what we could do. In my opinion, there isn’t much we could change about this site, and whether or not we want to come back next year, there’s certainly the intention to do that.”
