Fewer American visitors have been crossing the border into New Brunswick in recent years due to a high Canadian dollar.
But with the loonie now in a slump, Tourism Minister Bill Fraser says this is a very promising summer for those who rely on tourism traffic.
“Maine and the Boston market, there is a significant number of people within a half-day’s drive to our beautiful province. Certainly there are a lot of great opportunities to increase our visitor traffic given where the American dollar is at.”
Fraser adds much of New Brunswick’s summer marketing is now carried out through social media although it does include television advertising in Quebec and New England.
