The medium security unit at Dorchester Penitentiary remains locked down.
The lockdown began Wednesday afternoon for a general search.
The RCMP were called to the prison on Wednesday to investigate the sudden death of an inmate, 33 year old Matthew Hines. Foul play has been ruled out.
The search was ordered to ensure what prison officials say is the safety and security of the institution, its staff and inmates.
As to when normal operations will resume, we’re told as soon as it is considered safe to do so.
