Opposition leader Blaine Higgs is accusing Premier Brian Gallant of fabricating a story about his time as finance minister in a letter sent to Mayor Don Darling.
Higgs says the Premier claims the Harper Government drew up a contingency plan in 2014 because the province was on the verge of bankruptcy. Higgs was finance minister at that time under then Premier David Alward.
Gallant says the Liberals had intel to that effect and the finances of the province when Higgs was finance minister were in crisis.
Higgs says former Federal Finance Minister Joe Oliver denies the claim and the Premier responded by saying if Oliver denies it then he’ll take him at his word.
