Premier Defends Stand On Shale Gas As Vital To Province’s Future

Premier David Alward, campaigning in Saint John at the City Market, is calling the development of shale gas in the province is the most important opportunity in a generation, if not more than a generation. He claims people, by and large, are starting to understand this.

Alward says you can’t build families and strong communities in the province if New Brunswickers have to go out west to find work.

The Premier is dismissing Provincial Liberal leader Brian Gallant’s proposed moratorium on shale gas development as “reckless”.

Gallant, meantime, is accusing the Alward Government of attempting to suppress reports on fracking written by the Chief Medical Health Officer for the province.
