Power Rates Increase 2.48%

NB Power customers are now paying an extra 2.48 per cent for their electricity.

The Energy and Utilities Board approved the rate hike Thursday — which is also when the increase takes effect.

The utility had requested a 2.9 per cent hike for residents and a 1.7 per cent increase for commercial customers.

But in a decision earlier this week, the EUB ordered NB Power to calculate a uniform increase for all customers.

Water heater and heat pump rental rates will remain the same.
