The Executive Director of New Brunswick Student Alliance says they’re calling on the Gallant Government to make sure there’s a proper level of investment in post-secondary education, calling it vital to the students’ success and the success of our economy.
Lindsay Handren says we need students to be job-ready.
She says 70-percent of the jobs that are going to be created in the next seven years are going to require a post-secondary degree. She adds that New Brunswick is aging and as the population continues to age there are going to be gaps in the labour market and students are going to need to be trained to fill those gaps.
Handren says that unfortunately students have very little confidence in the government at this time.
It was revealed in July that New Brunswick has the dubious distinction of being number one among the provinces by level of average post-secondary student debt
