Pollett River Run Participants Urged To Take Their Trash Home

The Petitcodiac Watershed Alliance doesn’t want to stop Saturday’s Pollett River Run since the original idea was to clean up the river in the spring.

But the organization is urging participants to cut down on the amount of litter that is left behind including homemade watercrafts.

Executive director Lindsay Gauvin says a staff member will be providing garbage bags at the launch point and those can be dropped off at the end point of the run.

“There is going to be an area where people can put their garbage bags if they can’t bring it home. Ideally we want everybody to bring their own waste back home with them,” she says.

Gauvin says the organization is not supporting the Mud Bog since the sedimentation has a negative impact on fish eggs especially for the Atlantic Salmon which is returning to the river.
