Poll Shows Canadians Spent More On Christmas This Year

Now that the money has been spent, and the gifts sit unwrapped under the tree, are you looking back at how much you spent on Christmas this year?

According to a CIBC poll, nearly two thirds of Canadians said their holiday spending was out of control.

Holiday budgets were up eight per cent from last year.

But 52 per cent expected to go over budget and 41 per cent admitted that they couldn’t afford holiday spending, but felt pressured to participate.

Atlantic Canadians are the country’s top gift buyers, spending on average around $827 .
