Two days after a provincial election, and the idea of a minority government is still sinking in for some.
Mario Levesque is an Associate Political Science Professor at Mount Allison University.
He says if the four elected parties can’t work together, New Brunswickers could be asked to cast ballots again in the near future.
“Minority governments are very short lived. They can be very productive, but they’re not a long term solution either. They’re usually just a transition period and they capture voter discontent. In Canada, they don’t last more than 18 months to two years. We will likely be in another election situation very, very soon in this province.”
