Police seeking suspect in string of Shediac car thefts

The RCMP are looking for help identifying a suspect connected to a series of vehicle thefts in Shediac.

Mounties say thefts have been increasing in recent months in the area.

“We believe that there are a number of individuals involved with this series of vehicle-related thefts,” police said in a news release on Wednesday.

Investigators say suspects are targeting unlocked vehicles, and the main suspect from the surveillance footage is believed to be in their late teens or early twenties.

Officers are reminding residents to lock their vehicles and not leave their keys within their cars to prevent further incidents.

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact the RCMP at 506-533-5151.

Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
