Fredericton Police Force have provided more details after human remains were found in a landfill this week.
Spokesperson Mark Taylor says it is a 50-year-old man, who was known to police, but they are not releasing his identity.
Investigators believe the man may have been in a dumpster and transported to the landfill in a garbage truck.
Taylor says while foul play is not suspected, it hasn’t been ruled out.
The man`s family has been notified.
