Poley Mountain Getting Offers Of Help

The General Manager at Poley Mountain calls the fire which destroyed the ski lodge “a little setback”.

Bill Anderson is optimistic there will be skiing at Poley this winter season even though the rental equipment went up in smoke but other ski hills in Atlantic Canada have stepped up to the plate to offer help.

Anderson says it might look like trailer city when there is skiing. There was no one inside the lodge when the fire started. They were to have orientation there last night.

The blaze will be investigated by the Fire Marshall but the cause is not considered suspicious.

The lodge housed the ski school, Mountain Cafe, Fireside Lounge, rental shop, and other amenities. The guest services trailer sustained some smoke damage but otherwise is serviceable and the snow making equipment was not damaged.

Calls have already gone out to other ski hills for equipment and we’re told there will be skiing this season. Poley was planning to open December 19th.
